A Hong Kong resident holding smart identity card if fulfilling the following criteria:
A Hong Kong permanent resident aged 11 or above;
A Hong Kong resident aged 11 or above holding a Document of Identity for Visa Purposes;
A Hong Kong resident aged 11 or above who has the right to land or is on unconditional stay in Hong Kong;
A Hong Kong resident issued with a notification label (Hong Kong residents who stay in Hong Kong as foreign domestic helpers, students or imported workers are required to complete the enrolment before they can use the e-Channel service); or
A registered cross-boundary primary school student under the age of 11 (using the enrolled valid travel document) can perform automated immigration clearance at an e-Channel
Using e-Channel
Upon using the e-Channel, an eligible Hong Kong resident only needs to place his / her smart identity card on the top-left corner of an e-Channel's document reader with the photo face-down, or insert his / her smart identity card into the card reader with the photo face-down. When the reading process has finished, the smart identity card has to be taken back and he / she will be able to enter the e-Channel. After entering the e-Channel, he / she will need to place his / her registered thumb or finger flat on the centre of the fingerprint scanner, as shown in the following illustration.
After successful fingerprint verification, the passenger can leave the e-Channel.

Only one passenger is allowed to enter the e-Channel at any one time. While a passenger is performing fingerprint verification inside the e-Channel, the next passenger queuing in front of the e-Channel can place his / her smart identity card on the document reader or insert his / her smart identity card into the reader.
e-Channel with Voice Navigation Function
To facilitate visually impaired persons to enjoy self-service immigration clearance service, both the Arrival Halls and the Departure Halls of Lok Ma Chau Spur Line Control Point, Macau Ferry Terminal Control Point, Shenzhen Bay Control Point, China Ferry Terminal Control Point, Express Rail Link West Kowloon Control Point, Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Control Point, Lo Wu Control Point and Heung Yuen Wai Boundary Control Point are now equipped with voice navigated e-Channels. Braille maps are provided at the above-mentioned control points for visually impaired persons to locate the voice navigated e-Channels, and they may proceed to the e-Channels for conducting immigration clearance by following the tactile guide paths.
The voice navigation function can be activated by pressing the activation button with speaker sign. Visually impaired persons may then follow the voice instructions to complete the immigration clearance process. In addition to the voice navigation function, Braille tags are also affixed next to the activation button, the card insertion slot and the fingerprint scanner to facilitate visually impaired persons in completing the self-service immigration clearance process.
Express e-Channel
The Express e-Channel Service is available at Lo Wu Control Point, Lok Ma Chau Spur Line Control Point and Shenzhen Bay Control Point to provide faster immigration clearance to enrolled Hong Kong residents aged 18 or above who are existing e-Channel users.
Enrolment
An eligible resident should proceed to the enrolment e-Channel upon arriving at or departing from Lo Wu, Lok Ma Chau Spur Line and Shenzhen Bay Control Points for enrolment to use this service. At the enrolment, he / she will be asked to give consent to the Director of Immigration for retrieval of his / her personal data from the chip of his / her identity card and storage of such data in a database for subsequent automated immigration clearance. Upon confirmation of enrolment, he / she will be able to enter the enrolment e-Channel for fingerprint verification to complete the self-service enrolment and immigration clearance. There is also an Enrolment Office in the Eastern Arrival Hall of Lo Wu Control Point, Arrival Hall of Lok Ma Chau Spur Line Control Point and Arrival Hall of Shenzhen Bay Control Point to provide assistance to those who cannot complete the enrolment.
Using Express e-Channel
The entrance of the Express e-Channel is installed with a document reader. An enrolled resident only needs to place the card face of his / her smart identity card onto the document reader and push it inward to the upper edge. When prompted to take back the identity card, he / she can do so and enter the Express e-Channel for fingerprint verification. After successful fingerprint verification, he / she can leave the Express e-Channel. It should be noted that any protective cover should be removed from the identity card before using the Express e-Channel. The card should also be kept clean and in proper condition. Damaged, defaced or bent identity cards may not work at the Express e-Channels. If the smart identity card is replaced, re-enrolment is required before continuing to use the Express e-Channel.
An enrolled resident could contact the Duty Chief Immigration Officer at Lo Wu, Lok Ma Chau Spur Line or Shenzhen Bay Control Points to enquire about and to change the enrolment details. To provide more convenient automated immigration clearance service for cross-boundary primary school students, Cross-boundary Student e-Channels are installed at Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau Spurline Control Point.
Eligibility Criteria
A Cross-boundary Student can perform automated immigration clearance at the Cross-boundary Student e-Channel after successful enrolment if fulfilling the following criteria:
A cross-boundary primary school student under the age of 11;
At least 1.1 m tall; and
Holding a valid travel document.
Using Cross-boundary Student e-Channel
Upon using the Cross-boundary Student e-Channel, the enrolled student should place his / her enrolled travel document onto the document reader. When the reading process has finished, he / she will be able to enter the Cross-boundary Student e-Channel. After entering the Cross-boundary Student e-Channel, he / she will need to place his / her enrolled thumb or finger flat on the centre of the fingerprint scanner to verify his / her fingerprint. After successful fingerprint verification, he / she can leave the Cross-boundary Student e-Channel.
For any changes of enrolment details, especially after the replacement of the enrolled travel document, parent or guardian should complete the Change of Registered Particulars Application Form (available at Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau Spurline Control Point) and submit it to an immigration staff at Lo Wu or Lok Ma Chau Spurline Control Point. When an enrolled student reaches the age of 11, he / she should perform automated immigration clearance at the e-Channels using the new smart identity card.

Using e-Channel by Foreign Domestic Helpers, Students or Imported Workers
Eligibility Criteria
Hong Kong residents who are staying in Hong Kong as foreign domestic helpers, students or imported workers and meet the following eligibility criteria can enrol for the e-Channel service:
Aged 11 or above;
Holders of foreign domestic helper, student or imported worker visas who have successfully activated their visas and completed the immigration clearance at the traditional counters upon arrival in Hong Kong;
Holders of Hong Kong smart identity card; and
The permitted conditions of stay is still valid.
Enrolment
Eligible Hong Kong residents may choose to enrol for the e-Channel service via the “Contactless e-Channel” mobile application free of charge. Details of the enrolment steps using “Contactless e-Channel” mobile application are available through the following link:
“Contactless e-Channel” Service employs facial verification technology for eligible Hong Kong residents to perform self-service immigration clearance and enable Hong Kong residents to reduce contact with shared equipment during self-service immigration clearance; while providing faster, more convenient and hygienic immigration clearance service.

Enrolment
Eligible Hong Kong residents may choose to enrol for the “Contactless e-Channel” free of charge via the following means:-
(I) Contactless e-Channel Mobile Application
Eligible Hong Kong residents could download the “Contactless e-Channel” mobile application to their mobile phones for free and install the "iAM Smart" mobile application in their mobile phones and complete the relevant registration before enrolment for identity verification by the “Contactless e-Channel” mobile application. Those aged 11-17 must obtain the consent from their parents or legal guardians in order to complete the enrolment.

(Applicable to holders of new smart identity card and under the consent and assistance from parent / legal guardian)
Install and open the “Contactless e-Channel” mobile application, and select “Enrol for Contactless e-Channel” to proceed the enrolment procedures;
When the system is directed to "iAM Smart" mobile application automatically, login and give consent to provide personal data in "iAM Smart" to “Contactless e-Channel” mobile application;
"Enrolment QR Code" will be displayed on the applicant’s mobile phone;
The parent or legal guardian should open his /her “Contactless e-Channel” mobile application, select "Parent or legal guardian’s consent", then scan the “Enrolment QR Code” from the applicant's mobile phone and follow the instructions to complete the enrolment; and
Enrolment for the “Contactless e-Channel” Service is completed and the e-Channel QR code is also activated simultaneously.
(Applicable only to eligible Hong Kong residents aged 18 or above)
Place the new smart identity card onto the optical reader or insert the smart identity card into the card reader;
Read and agree to the Declaration of the Applicant and Terms of Use;
Follow the instructions to take back the identity card and enter the e-Channel;
Stand at the footprint marking position and look at the camera for facial verification; and
Leave the e-Channel after opening of the exit gate doors. Enrolment for the “Contactless e-Channel” Service and immigration clearance process are completed simultaneously.
Remarks:
To complete the enrolment, the identity of the enrollee has to be successfully ascertained through facial verification; and

Using “Contactless e-Channel” Service
When using the “Contactless e-Channel” Service, enrolled Hong Kong resident is still required to carry his / her valid Hong Kong identity card and valid travel document (if applicable). The system will verify the Hong Kong resident’s identity through fingerprints when facial verification was unsuccessful.
I. By using e-Channel QR code
Enrolled Hong Kong resident should open the “Contactless e-Channel” mobile application and present the e-Channel QR code to the QR code reader of “Contactless e-Channel”. When the scanning process has finished, he / she will be able to enter the e-Channel; or
II. By using Smart Identity Card
Enrolled Hong Kong resident could place his / her new smart identity card onto the optical reader or insert his / her smart identity card into the card reader. When the reading process has finished, he / she will be able to enter the e-Channel.
Inside the e-Channel, he / she will be required to stand on the footprint marking position and look at the camera. After successful facial verification, he/ she can leave the e-Channel.
Cancellation of Enrolment
Enrolled Hong Kong residents could cancel their enrolment of the “Contactless e-Channel” Service through “Contactless e-Channel” mobile application or e-Channel enrolment offices. After cancellation of the enrolment, the “e-Channel QR code” would be deactivated immediately (if applicable).
The cancellation of enrolment is free of charge.

Mutual Use of QR Code between HKSAR and Macao SAR Clearance Service
Mutual Use of QR Code between HKSAR and Macao SAR Clearance Service aims at allowing Hong Kong residents using the e-Channel QR Code generated by the Contactless e-Channel Mobile Application for using the Automated Passenger Clearance Service in Macao SAR. Meanwhile, Macao residents may similarly use the QR code generated by Macao One Account Mobile Application for using the e-Channel Service in Hong Kong SAR. Nevertheless, Hong Kong residents/ Macao residents are still required to carry their valid Hong Kong / Macao identity cards when using the Mutual Use of QR Code between HKSAR and Macao SAR Clearance Service.
“Flight Token e-Channel” service facilitates eligible Hong Kong residents a more convenient departure clearance service at the Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA).
Eligibility Criteria
Hong Kong residents aged 11 or above, who choose to use the “Flight Token” service of Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK), departing on strength of any of the following valid documents, are eligible to use “Flight Token e-Channel” service:
HKSAR Passport;
HKSAR Document of Identity for Visa Purposes;
Hong Kong and Macao Residents Entry and Exit Permit (commonly known as “Home Visit Permit”)^.

Using “Flight Token e-Channel” Service
Eligible Hong Kong residents can follow the below procedures for entering the “Flight Token e-Channel” and completing automated departure clearance by facial verification.
Look at the camera in front of the “Flight Token e-Channel” (presenting document(s) is not required);
The gate doors will open after verifying the eligibility;
After entering the “Flight Token e-Channel”, look at the camera for facial verification; and
The gate doors will open after successful verification of identity. Passenger can then leave the “Flight Token e-Channel” and complete the departure clearance.
Hong Kong residents are still required to carry their valid Hong Kong identity cards when using the “Flight Token e-Channel” Service.

Vehicular e-Channel
All vehicular control points, including Lok Ma Chau, Man Kam To, Shenzhen Bay, Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and Heung Yuen Wai, have been installed with vehicular e-Channels.
Eligibility Criteria
A Hong Kong cross-boundary driver holding smart identity card is eligible to enrol for using vehicular e-Channel service if fulfilling the following criteria:
A Hong Kong permanent resident;
A Hong Kong resident holding a Document of Identity for Visa Purposes;
A Hong Kong resident who has the right to land or is on unconditional stay in Hong Kong; or
A Hong Kong resident who has been issued with a notification label other than on strength of a visa for foreign domestic helper, student or imported worker.
A valid travel document should always be carried when using vehicular e-Channel service. Other than the driver, there should not be any person on board of the vehicle when using the service.
Enrolment
Eligible Hong Kong cross-boundary drivers may use the checking station installed at the vehicular e-Channels of Lok Ma Chau, Man Kam To, Shenzhen Bay, Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and Heung Yuen Wai to perform electronic authorisation during immigration clearance. After successful enrolment, the cross-boundary driver may perform self-service immigration clearance at the vehicular e-Channel upon next travel.
Using Vehicular e-Channel
To ensure smooth and fast clearance, the vehicular e-Channels are employed with both fingerprint verification and face recognition technologies. Upon using the vehicular e-Channel, the enrolled driver should stop his / her vehicle before the white line and wait for the green traffic light before driving into the vehicular e-Channel. While he / she is driving into the vehicular e-Channel, sensors on both sides of the vehicular e-Channel will trigger to move the checking station to a suitable height, enabling the enrolled driver to place his / her registered thumb or finger flat on the fingerprint scanner and simultaneously look at the camera installed at the checking station.
During clearance, Intercom can be used to contact immigration staff for assistance if encountering problem. Upon completion of the immigration clearance, the enrolled driver can simply drive away.
Cancellation of enrolment
An enrolled driver can contact immigration office by phone for cancellation of using the self-service immigration clearance at vehicular e-Channel. The telephone number is 2294 2030.
Mutual Use of QR Code between HKSAR and Macao SAR Clearance Service
“Mutual Use of QR Code between HKSAR and Macao SAR Clearance Service” allows Hong Kong residents to use the e-Channel QR Code generated by the “Contactless e-Channel” Mobile Application for using the Automated Passenger Clearance Service in Macao SAR. On the other hand, Macao residents may similarly use the QR code generated by Macao One Account Mobile Application for using the e-Channel Service in Hong Kong SAR. Hong Kong Residents Using Automated Passenger Clearance Service in the Macao Special Administrative Region
Eligibility Criteria
A Hong Kong resident is eligible to enrol for using the Automated Passenger Clearance Service in the Macao Special Administrative Region if fulfilling the following criteria:
(1)
Aged 11 or above; and
(2)
(i)
Holding a valid Hong Kong permanent identity card or Hong Kong identity card containing ‘*’, ‘***’ or ‘R’ symbol; or
(ii)
Holding a valid Hong Kong identity card and a HKSAR Document of Identity for Visa Purposes with validity of not less than 90 days.
Enrolment
An eligible Hong Kong resident can enrol for the Automated Passenger Clearance Service free of charge at the Enrolment Offices located at the following locations.
Border Gate Checkpoint (Departure Office at Departure Hall)
Qingmao Checkpoint (Departure Hall on 3/F – Departure Office)
Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Checkpoint (Departure Office at Hong Kong-Macao Hall) (Hong Kong-Macao Arrival Hall on ground floor)
Checkpoint of Macao Port Zone of Hengqin Port (Arrival Hall – Visa Office)
Immigration Building of the Public Security Police Force
During enrolment at any of the above enrolment offices, an eligible Hong Kong resident holding a valid Hong Kong permanent identity card or Hong Kong identity card containing ‘*’, ‘***’ or ‘R’ symbol is required to present his/her valid Hong Kong identity card. For eligible Hong Kong non-permanent residents holding HKSAR Document of Identity for Visa Purposes, they are required to present both their valid Hong Kong non-permanent identity card and HKSAR Document of Identity for Visa Purposes with validity of not less than 90 days. An enrolee is required to fill in and sign the enrolment form, and has his/her fingerprints and photograph taken.
An eligible Hong Kong resident aged from 11 to 17 should be accompanied by a parent or guardian and produce the original birth certificate and the Hong Kong identity card of the accompanying father, mother or guardian for enrolment. If accompanied by a guardian, the original legal authorisation letter or court order should be provided. (Note: If any of the above documents is not in Chinese, English or Portuguese, it must be accompanied by a certified Chinese, English or Portuguese translation.)
Hong Kong residents aged 18 or above holding:
a valid Hong Kong permanent identity card; or
a valid Hong Kong identity card containing ‘***’ or ‘R’ symbol,
may perform the self-service enrolment at the enrolment kiosks installed at the following locations.
Arrival and Departure Halls, Macau Ferry Terminal Control Point
Departure Hall, China Ferry Terminal Control Point
Arrival and Departure Halls, Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Control Point
Arrival and Departure Halls, Kai Tak Cruise Terminal Control Point
During the self-enrolment, an eligible Hong Kong resident holding a valid Hong Kong permanent identity card or Hong Kong identity card containing ‘***’ or ‘R’ symbol must give consent to the Director of Immigration to retrieve the personal data stored inside the chip of his / her identity card and capture his / her fingerprint templates for transmission to the Border Control Department of the Public Security Police Force of the Government of Macao SAR for processing his / her enrolment for the Macao Automated Passenger Clearance Service (Please refer to the Disclaimer). The successful enrolled Hong Kong resident may normally use the Macao Automated Passenger Clearance Service within three working days after the completion of enrolment.
For Hong Kong residents holding a valid Hong Kong permanent identity card or Hong Kong identity card containing ‘*’, ‘***’ or ‘R’ symbol, if there are any changes in the enrolment information or after replacement of the Hong Kong identity card, the enrolled Hong Kong residents are required to re-enrol before continuing to use the Macao Automated Passenger Clearance Service.
For Hong Kong non-permanent residents holding HKSAR Document of Identity for Visa Purposes, re-enrolment is required before continuing to use the Macao Automated Passenger Clearance Service in the following circumstances:
change of information (e.g. personal particulars) provided during enrolment for Automated Passenger Clearance Service;
after replacement of the Hong Kong identity card or the HKSAR Document of Identity for Visa Purposes; or
after obtaining a Hong Kong permanent identity card.
Use of Automated Passenger Clearance Service in the Macao Special Administrative Region
After successful enrolment, Hong Kong residents can use the Automated Passenger Clearance Service at the following checkpoints.
Border Gate Checkpoint
Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Checkpoint (Hong Kong-Macao Hall)
Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal Checkpoint
Taipa Ferry Terminal Checkpoint
Inner Harbour Ferry Terminal and Yacht Terminal Checkpoint
Airport Checkpoint
An eligible Hong Kong resident holding a valid Hong Kong permanent identity card or Hong Kong identity card containing ‘*’, ‘***’ or ‘R’ symbol can use the Macao Automated Passenger Clearance Service on the strength of his/her Hong Kong identity card, whereas an eligible Hong Kong non-permanent resident holding a valid HKSAR Document of Identity for Visa Purposes can use the Macao Automated Passenger Clearance Service on the strength of his/her HKSAR Document of Identity for Visa Purposes.
Cancellation of Enrolment
A Hong Kong resident aged 18 or above may apply for cancellation of enrolment by completing the cancellation form and hand it in person to an officer of the Border Control Department of the Public Security Police Force of the Government of Macao SAR at any checkpoints in Macao.
For an enrolled Hong Kong resident aged from 11 to 17, his / her parent or guardian should approach any checkpoints in Macao in person to complete the cancellation form, hand it to an officer of the Border Control Department of the Public Security Police Force of the Government of Macao SAR and produce his/her own Hong Kong identity card, passport or HKSAR Document of Identity for Visa Purposes together with the original birth certificate of the enrolee or the guardian’s proof of relationship with the enrolee for verification.
Mutual Use of QR Code between HKSAR and Macao SAR Clearance Service
“Mutual Use of QR Code between HKSAR and Macao SAR Clearance Service” allows Hong Kong residents to use the e-Channel QR Code generated by the “Contactless e-Channel” Mobile Application for using the Automated Passenger Clearance Service in Macao SAR. On the other hand, Macao residents may similarly use the QR code generated by Macao One Account Mobile Application for using the e-Channel Service in Hong Kong SAR. Hong Kong residents/ Macao residents are still required to carry their valid Hong Kong / Macao identity cards when using the “Mutual Use of QR Code between HKSAR and Macao SAR Clearance Service”.
Hong Kong Residents Using Automated Immigration Clearance Service in the Republic of Korea
Eligibility Criteria
A Hong Kong resident is eligible to enrol for the Smart Entry Service (SES) of the Republic of Korea for automated immigration clearance if fulfilling the following criteria :
Aged 17 or above;
Holding a Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Electronic Passport (e-Passport)* valid for at least 6 months; and
No adverse record in the Republic of Korea.
Enrolment is free of charge and on a voluntary basis.
Enrolment
An eligible Hong Kong resident can enrol for the SES at the SES Enrolment Centres in the Republic of Korea. Information about the locations and the opening hours of the SES Enrolment Centres is available at the Smart Entry Service Website of the Korean Immigration Service.
For enrolment, an eligible Hong Kong resident is required to :
present his / her valid Hong Kong Special Administrative Region e-Passport * (valid for at least 6 months);
submit electronic application form;
have fingerprints taken; and
have photograph taken.

If the enrolled Hong Kong Special Administrative Region passport is renewed / replaced, re-enrolment for the SES is required.
Using Automated Immigration Clearance Service in the Republic of Korea
An enrolled resident can use the SES in the Republic of Korea.

Note: Starting from 22 August 2016, Hong Kong residents can enrol for the SES directly at enrolment centres in the Republic of Korea without the need for pre-enrolment. Those who have already completed the online pre-enrolment but have not yet enrolled at the enrolment centres in the Republic of Korea are not required to produce the online pre-enrolment Notification Slip for enrolment if they meet the above eligibility criteria. Those who enrolled successfully on or before 21 August 2016 are not required to enrol again unless his/her enrolment has expired or he/she has replaced/renewed his/her passport.
Hong Kong Residents Using Automated Immigration Clearance Service in the Federal Republic of Germany
Eligibility Criteria
With effect from 1 November 2014, a Hong Kong resident is eligible to enrol for the automated immigration clearance service of the Federal Republic of Germany (EasyPASS) if fulfilling the following criteria:
Aged 18 or above;
Holding a Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Electronic Passport (e-Passport)* valid for at least 6 months; and
No adverse record in the Federal Republic of Germany.
Enrolment is free of charge and on a voluntary basis.
Note: The enrolment criteria are same as that of the trial run during the period from 1 September 2014 to 31 October 2014. For those successfully enrolled Hong Kong residents during the trial run, the registration is still valid unless the enrolled Hong Kong Special Administrative Region e-Passport is renewed / replaced.
Enrolment
An eligible resident can enrol for the EasyPASS in the Federal Republic of Germany. Information about the locations and opening hours of the EasyPASS Enrolment Centres is available at the EasyPASS Website.
For enrolment, an eligible resident is required to :
present his / her valid Hong Kong Special Administrative Region e-Passport* (valid for at least 6 months); and
complete enrolment forms

Using Automated Immigration Clearance Service in the Federal Republic of Germany
After successful enrolment, an enrolled resident can use the EasyPASS in the Federal Republic of Germany by going through the following steps:
Place the enrolled Hong Kong Special Administrative Region e-Passport on the document reader with the data page facing down for document authentication and wait for instruction before entering the gate.
Inside the gate, look directly at the camera for identity verification.
After successful identity verification, follow the instruction to go to the booth located directly behind the gate for stamping. More details of enrolment and usage are available at the EasyPASS Website.
Hong Kong Residents Using Automated Immigration Clearance Service in the Republic of Singapore
Eligibility Criteria
A Hong Kong resident is eligible to enrol for the use of the automated lanes during arrival immigration clearance at the Republic of Singapore’s checkpoints if fulfilling the following criteria:
Aged 6 or above;
Holding a Hong Kong Special Administrative Region passport valid for at least 6 months; and
Enrolment is free of charge and on a voluntary basis.
Enrolment
Eligible resident entering via Changi Airport Arrival Terminals, Woodlands Checkpoint, Tuas Checkpoint and Marina Bay Cruise Centre can seek clearance at the designated automated lanes or at manual immigration counters and be automatically enrolled for Automated Clearance Initiative.
Once enrolled, an Electronic Visit Pass (e-Pass) would be sent to respective email address provided in previous SG Arrival Card submission. The enrolment will enable the use of automated lanes during departure and on subsequent visits to Singapore.
No separate registration is required. The eligibility for automated clearance will be re-assessed when you change to a new passport.
Using Automated Lanes in the Republic of Singapore
After successful enrolment, the enrolled resident can use automated lanes in the Republic of Singapore. More details of enrolment and usage of automated lanes are available at the ICA website.
Hong Kong Residents Using Automated Immigration Clearance Service in Australia
Eligibility Criteria
Arrival
With effect from 20 June 2016, a Hong Kong resident is eligible to use the automated immigration clearance service of Australia (SmartGate) upon arrival without prior enrolment if fulfilling the following criteria:
Aged 16 or above.
Holding a Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Electronic Passport (e-Passport)* ;

Using Automated Immigration Clearance Service in Australia
An eligible Hong Kong resident can use the SmartGate in Australia by going through the following steps:
Arrival
Step 1: At the SmartGate self-service kiosk
Having completed an incoming passenger card, proceed to a SmartGate self-service kiosk.
Place the HKSAR e-Passport on the document reader with the data page facing down for document authentication and wait for instruction.
Take the SmartGate ticket issued and proceed to the arrival gate.
Step 2: At the arrival gate
Follow the instructions to insert the SmartGate ticket and look directly at the camera for identity verification.
After successful identity verification, follow the instructions to retrieve the SmartGate ticket and proceed to the baggage hall for handing the SmartGate ticket and the duly completed incoming passenger card to local staff.
Place the HKSAR passport on the document reader with the data page facing down for document authentication and wait for instruction before entering the gate.
Inside the gate, look directly at the camera for identity verification.
After successful identity verification, follow the instruction to deposit the completed outgoing passenger card at a collection point.
Hong Kong Residents Using Automated Immigration Clearance Service in the Kingdom of Thailand
Eligibility Criteria
With effect from 15 September 2018, a Hong Kong resident is eligible to use the automated immigration clearance service of the Kingdom of Thailand (Automatic Channel) without prior enrolment if fulfilling the following criteria:
Holding a Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) passport valid for at least 6 months from the arrival date in the Kingdom of Thailand;
Must be at least 120 centimetres tall;
Intending to stay in the Kingdom of Thailand as a visitor for a period of not more than 30 days; and
No adverse record in the Kingdom of Thailand.
Using Automated Immigration Clearance Service in the Kingdom of Thailand
An eligible Hong Kong resident can use the Automatic Channel in the Kingdom of Thailand by going through the following steps:
Place the bio-data page of the HKSAR passport onto the document reader.
Scan the barcode of the boarding pass.
Enter the Automatic Channel when the gate doors open.
Follow the instruction to have the photo taken.
Place either left or right index finger onto the fingerprint scanner.
Leave the Automatic Channel when the gates open.
Proceed to the counter and present HKSAR passport to the immigration officer for stamping. The immigration clearance is completed.
Note:
1. After entering an Automatic Channel, the HKSAR passport holders should remove any headgear that cover their faces, such as hats, sunglasses and masks, etc.
2. If the HKSAR passport holders bring along the luggage to use the Automatic Channel, the luggage cannot be taller than 110 centimetres (handle included).
