Special Service Days to be launched at Registration of Persons - Hong Kong Office on April 5 and April 7, 2023

30 March 2023

The Immigration Department (ImmD) announced today (March 30) that Special Service Days will be launched at the Registration of Persons (ROP) - Hong Kong Office situated at the Immigration Tower, Wan Chai, on April 5 and April 7, 2023, to provide different kinds of identity card application services, including applications for replacement of new smart identity cards under the Territory-wide Identity Card Replacement Exercise; first-time applications for adult or juvenile identity cards; replacement of identity cards due to loss, destruction, damage or defacement; amendment of registered particulars on identity cards and identity card applications from new arrivals (other than persons admitted under the Supplementary Labour Scheme and holders of Permits for Proceeding to Hong Kong and Macao (commonly known as "One-way Permits")), etc.

An ImmD spokesperson said that since the gradual resumption of travel, many Hong Kong residents outside Hong Kong returned for identity card applications, resulting in a high demand for appointment quotas. In addition, as the Easter holidays are coming, it is anticipated that more residents will return to Hong Kong. With a view to enabling residents to continuously apply for identity cards in an orderly manner, the ROP - Hong Kong Office will open on April 5 and April 7, 2023, from 8am to 6pm to provide different kinds of identity card application services. In order to concentrate resources for identity card application services, applications for the Certificate of Registered Particulars and the Certificate of Exemption will not be provided on the two Special Service Days.

Members of the public may make an appointment on April 5 or April 7, 2023, for identity card applications via the Internet (www.quotabooking.gov.hk/icbooking) (for relevant QR code, see Annex I) starting from April 3, 2023.

For appointments on other days, members of the public may scan the QR codes (see Annex II) to download the ImmD mobile application or make an appointment for an identity card application via the Internet (www.gov.hk/icbooking).

In order to ensure that residents could apply for identity cards in a smooth and orderly manner, ROP Offices will not process applications without appointments. For applicants without an appointment but have an urgent need to replace their identity cards which have been lost, destroyed, damaged or defaced, the ROP Offices will offer assistance based on individual circumstances.
