Visits in Castle Peak Bay Immigration Centre resume

20 September 2020

The Immigration Department (ImmD) spokesman announced today (September 20) that visits at Castle Peak Bay Immigration Centre (CIC) will be resumed from tomorrow (September 21).

In response to a detainee who was previously transferred from Pik Uk Prison to CIC and had tested positive for COVID-19, ImmD had suspended all the visits at CIC. ImmD arranged for all detainees and officers to undergo COVID-19 testing in accordance with the advice of the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) and all specimens were tested negative. In addition, CIC has stepped up various disease prevention measures, including regular thorough cleaning and disinfection measures at all detention facilities. All visits in CIC will be resumed from tomorrow. In order to maintain social distancing, some of the facilities in the visit room will be temporarily closed, thorough cleaning in visit room will be conducted regularly, leading to a longer waiting time.

ImmD will maintain close contact with CHP on measures of disease prevention and will review and update the infection control measures in place regularly to prevent the outbreak of communicable disease. ImmD strives to provide a safe environment for all detainees, staff members and visitors. Moreover, ImmD had reminded all staff and detainees to stay vigilance on the personal hygiene. They should seek medical consultation and inform management promptly if they have any discomforting symptoms.
