A Hong Kong resident on missing Malaysia Airlines flight

Regarding the case of a missing Beijing-bound Malaysia Airlines flight from Kuala Lumpur, after acquired further information this morning (March 9), the Immigration Department (ImmD) confirmed that a Hong Kong resident was on the flight. Up till now, ImmD has not received any requests for assistance. Staff of the Immigration section of the Beijing Office (BJO) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) has already contacted the concerned family members who are currently in Beijing and confirmed that they have knowledge about the incident. Immigration section of the BJO will provide assistance to the family members.

ImmD will continue to keep close contact with the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the HKSAR, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Malaysia, BJO and the airline to closely monitor the situation and provide assistance to the involved Hong Kong resident and the family members.
